ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Racquets Court

This project is somewhat unique.  The Racquets Court was originally built in 1888 for the sport of Racquets (a cross between real tennis and squash).  It is located in the historic College Street and whilst not actually listed, is an important heritage building.

Elliott Associates acted as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultants for Gavurin, a high tech data business, who wanted to convert the building into their new headquarters.

As a client, they had never procured a building contract before and this particular building provided many challenges.  Elliotts were able to assemble the project team (architect/engineer/main contractor) who worked together extremely collaboratively, culminating in the main contractor-providing contract funding until practical completion when the finished building could be re-mortgaged.

The building was completed on time and on cost to the complete satisfaction of the client. It has subsequently been recognised as one of the best ‘office spaces’ in the city by a number of local agents and is currently shortlisted for an RICS award.
