The Lakes

The Lakes is a purpose build, 47 bed residential dementia care facility, built in the grounds of Minster Care Group’s existing Duncote Hall facility.

The facility was designed and constructed to meet the Client’s brief of a facility which enables residents to be cared for, but at the same time maintain their independence. All bedrooms were provided with en-suite shower facilities, whilst large larch framed windows were provided to allow residents to enjoy views of the expansive landscaped gardens.

Back of house facilities are contained within a basement area, whilst resident bedrooms, day spaces and communal areas located on both the ground and first floor areas.

The project utilised traditional construction, incorporating a concreted tanked basement and metal deck upper floors with in-situ concrete slabs. External walls were constructed in reconstituted stone and a larch solar shade was incorporated to ensure specific areas are shaded for resident comfort.

Elliott Associates worked closely with both the Client and Contractor teams to overcome project specific challenges, including the isolated, rural nature of the site, site access challenges and ensuring that staff and residents of the adjacent Duncote Hall facility were not adversely affected by the works.
